One day when I checked my WhatsApp, there was a message on our infosec friends group that we should check this game once as it is browser-based and takes only 5-6 minutes to complete. So I checked; the game was “WE BECOME WHAT WE BEHOLD “. It is a game about news cycles and how the media shows us the news, which helps increase their profits.
In the game, we play as news reporters who have to take pictures of people & conflict between two communities in a closed town-like environment, and the photos will be shown on TV. Interestingly the hateful pictures get. On the other hand, other images do not get featured. The hatred turns into communinal violence between those communities, and the news keeps showing it. Eventually, riots broke out in the city, and then the same media showed a message of peace on TV. I found it ironic. This game depicts the reality of today’s media. I would like the reader to go and play the game once.
In the end, I would like to appreciate Nicky Case , as they are making games by themselves I am not sure if I can call them an indie game developer as they create flash games you can check their other games on their websites. One exciting thing about Nicky is all of their work is open source under a creative commons licence.
Nicky is one of the people I admire the most.
