I have been an active participant in the crypto space since August 2017 and I consider myself to be pretty tech-savvy. However, I have been shocked every time I’ve fallen victim to a phishing scam. Unfortunately, it has happened to me three times now.

The first time I was phished, I had just opened a new wallet and gave away my seed phrase to a scam website. I was new to the space and didn’t know any better, so I thought it was okay.

The second time, I was upset because I had just taken a drop year and anticipated a bad result for my 12th standard improvement exam. I was afraid of my father and ended up giving my seed phrase away to a new type of phishing scam where I thought I was signing up for an airdrop. Ironically, I had won a competition as i was in top 100 for making a video on avoiding these kinds of scams.

Today, I got phished again while searching for Scroll’s airdrop. I saw a person with a blue tick mark on Twitter promoting a fake Scroll airdrop page (https://connect-scroll.com/ ). Unfortunately, my 4.5 ENS tokens, worth $54, were stolen through this phishing attempt. The transaction hashes for the prompted transactions are: https://etherscan.io/tx/0x8522ebaf31ec3d13b7ede414b368355fe61f123a3cecdd53c5a787fad997d32a & https://etherscan.io/tx/0x1f878fdd8a485e6d94c9405450eea543e53ca88e2e8f5ab5642c63a268667049 .

I accept that I made a grave mistake by trusting an unkown Twitter account and not double-checking the URL. The Metamask wallet and Fire extension did show me a warning that the smart contract was dangerous, but I ignored it subconsciously because I thought it was legitimate since the account had a blue tick. This Twitter blue tick drama finally impacted me in a way I never thought possible, and I can say that I got musked (indirectly scammed due to Elon Musk giving away blue ticks for money).

Fortunately, I was using the Metamask wallet this time, so I only approved two transactions and saved $290 from my wallet; otherwise, I would have lost it all. I was not aware that I was sending the tokens to another address. If I can take down this website, it will give me peace, as I paid a small price, but others can lose a lot of money.
